I probably won’t be blogging it, but this looks like a nice relaxing little show for the end of long days. The children all seem to have interesting enough personalities (I personally like Hiiragi best already), and the adult characters get their chance to shine as well (Anzu’s mother being the most interesting to me – Tsuchida is honestly just Kodomo no Jikan’s Daisuke except a little younger and cuter) With all that out of the way, my first impression of the show is that it’s very pleasant, cute and fun to watch.
But those looking for something too similar to Kodomo no Jikan will likely be disappointed for this reason the tone of Hanamaru Kindergarten is much more reminscent of Yotsubato!. Kindergarten (Death Note / Kindergarten crossover).

Basically, if you ever thought to yourself that you were interested in Kodomo no Jikan but were turned off by the at times disturbing content, Hanamaru Kindergarten is a very non-offending title. First of all, he’s the first male teacher the center has ever had, secondly, he has fallen in love with one of the female teachers called Yamamoto, thirdly, one of the kindergarteners in his class turns out to be the daughter of his old classmate…and fourthly, this little girl in question, Anzu, has decided that she’s in love with him.Īnzu herself seems to be having a great deal of fun starting out at preschool, and even manages to make two friends, the rather serious if not slightly eccentric Hiiragi and the soft-spoken crybaby Koume. Tsuchida has just started his new job as a kindergarten teacher, where he is surprised to learn a few things. Hanamaru Kindergarten is a delightful slice-of-life anime series that revolves around the daily lives of a group of 5-year-olds as they attend kindergarten.
